Elderly Care and Care for Persons with Disabilities
Caring for someone we love is a vital part of our lives. Care for our elders is one of the most important decisions we have to make on their behalf. As they grow old and our elders become sick, disoriented and confused, we have a duty to assure them that the level of care that is and will be provided to them is significantly proper and acceptable. We need to ensure that they are properly cared for, after all they took care of us all and it is just appropriate that we do the same for them.
The current care system for the elderly that is available, is good, but with the volume of elderly people in care homes and with the cutbacks from the government, these level of care is about to suffer. And we all have read about stories about elderly couple being separated because of government protocol and the ratio of caregiver per residents has risen thus level of care suffers.
Most of our elders despise the idea of being sent to a care home, and they have a good reason. It seems that if they are destined to be in a care home, it is because they have no choice. Once they are there, there is a feeling that they are no longer needed, their health deteriorates, they feel their independence is gone and they have no more choice. And it does not have to be this way.
